 The Webrings Are Fully Operational Again
|
After being down for who knows how long, the two webrings that I host are up and running once again. If you have a website, and would like to get more traffic, please join. You can find the two webrings at:

I also created a new webring, UFT's Ring of Cool Sites ( http://www.fedtrek.com/rings/cool_sites/_ringmaker.php ) for anyone who has just about any kind of website.
BTW, I have to warn you, I got a webring navigation bar checker thing working now. If you don't have the webring's navigation bar on the page that you entered in for your website's url, your site will be suspended. A solution for this will be to put the url of the page you plan on putting the webring's navigation bar on. For example, if you put your website's url as http://www.fedtrek.com but put the webring's navigation bar code on http://www.fedtrek.com/Webrings.html , the code checker will not be able to find the webring's navigation bar unless you put http://www.fedtrek.com/Webrings.html as your website's url. I know it is confusing and if you need any help keeping your site active in any of the three webrings mentioned in this announcement, please tell me.

What happened to the thumbnails?
|
Some of you may have noticed that the thumbnails for the websites in the links archive have been replaced with images that say the thumbnail can't be found. Don't worry (something has to be really wrong with you if you are worrying over something like this  ), the thumbnails are being regenerated. What happened was that I was not satisfied with the image quality for most of them so I deleted all of them, recoded the thing that makes the thumbnails, and are having them be regenerated all over again. I must say the new ones are a lot better than the old ones.
Also, please submit links to the links archive ( http://www.fedtrek.com/Web_Links.html ). I need more new links!

Email working

Not only am I able to send email but I can now get email. I'm still having some issues with my spam filter but at least I can get email.
Also, go check out the links section. I added screen shots of the websites. It will be a while before there's a screen shot for most of the websites. There like 3,000 in the links section and the fastest the server can make them are 1 per minute and you have to view the category in the links section the website is in so the server knows to make a screen shot. In other words, it could be weeks or months before its done. You can still check it out at http://www.fedtrek.com/Web_Links.html .

Email working (I hope)

I believe I got the site to be able to send emails. If not, send an email to omega13a@yahoo.com or post something in the bug reports forum.
I'm still working on trying to get my omega13a@fedtrek.com email to work. I don't think I'm receiving emails.

The story of my life appears to be when ever I get confident about something, a disaster follows... Anyways, the night after the previous announcement, there was a really bad glitch and the server crashed in a way that I couldn't find any obvious solution on how to fix it... I ended up having to reinstall the server's OS. Hopefully everything is OK now.

Sorry about the downtime

Sorry for having the site down for over a day. There was a serious bug that was effected the admin backend for this site and I couldn't fix the problem without locking everyone out of the site. Sorry for any inconvience the downtime caused.

UFT Writer Fixed
|
Someone you may have noticed that the index page for UFT Writer keeps loading and loading and nothing actually happens. I believed I fixed the problem. Apparently, some of your session data got deleted by the server and when it went to go display the announcements, it kept trying to look for data that didn't exist.

Sorry about the downtime

Sorry about the downtime. I was trying to upgrade MySQL on the server, which I have lovingly named Peeves do to its behavior, and if anything could go wrong, it did.  Anyways, everything appears to be running now. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Registration Page Fixed
|
I managed to fix the registration page. You should be able to register for accounts now. Thank you padyandmoony [fanfiction.net] (a realy good Harry Potter fan fiction author. Click on his name to go to his FanFiction.net profile which has links to his stories) for bringing the error message to my attention.

UFT Encyclopedia Upgrade
|
I've upgraded software for UFT Encyclopedia to MediaWiki 1.14.0. However, the upgrade caused some problems with the message board and the rest of the site. I think I got all of them but there maybe some lurking. If you find any error messages, please tell me. I can't fix what I don't know about.
